In 2027, Projekt will launch an artist residency in Mérida, Mexico, bringing together creatives from the UK and Mexico through a programme centred on collaboration, cultural exchange and making. The residency will provide time, space and context for artists to immerse themselves in the creative landscape of the Yucatán, building meaningful connections with local practitioners, communities and traditions.

Rooted in Mayan heritage, Mérida is an inspiring place to live, work and create. Often referred to as La Ciudad Blanca (The White City), it is known for its distinctive architecture, thriving cultural scene and slower pace of life. The only city to have been named an American Capital of Culture twice, Mérida sits within easy reach of ancient archaeological sites, cenotes, nature reserves and small artisan communities, offering artists a rich environment to explore, question and respond to through their practice.
